Catherine “Cat” Shook joined Sister in 2022 as Manager, Development after five years in the Publications Department at ICM Partners.
She started her career at ICM as a scanner (which is unfortunately exactly what it sounds like), and worked her way up to help facilitate the deal-making and publication of many books, including several New York Times bestsellers. Her debut novel, If We’re Being Honest, will be published in 2023 by Celadon Books.
Cat holds bachelor’s degrees in TV & Film Production and English from the University of Georgia, and is originally from Atlanta. She is based in SISTER’s New York office.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF PERFECT JOY?
Central Park in late Spring. Preferably with rosé.
WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT?
Anytime I can give someone subway directions without the help of Google Maps.
IF YOU WERE TO DIE AND COME BACK AS A PERSON OR A THING, WHO/WHAT WOULD IT BE?
A very full, tall, disorganized bookcase–complete with a sliding ladder.
WHO HAS THE GREATEST VOICE (SPOKEN OR SINGING)?
Beyoncé, obviously. And not just for singing: have you ever heard her say the word “mango”? Heaven.
WHO IS YOUR HERO OF FICTION?
Olive Kitteridge, even though she would find me annoying.
